🌱 Building A Smarter Energy Future: Looking Toward 2038 and Beyond
In January 2025, EnergyCo officially announced the result of the headroom assessment, and increased the renewable generation capacity of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) from 5.84 to 7.7 gigawatts (GW).
This expansion is a key step in preparing for future energy demands and will play a crucial role in supporting statewide electricity needs.
EnergyCo predicts the REZ will unlock up to 6GW by 2038, demonstrating impressive foresight and future focus. A headroom assessment will be conducted every two years to identify if the amount of generation or storage that can connect in the REZ can increase.
